Are Schools in Woodbridge, NJ Serving Rotten Food?
Hundreds of starving students and parents say the food served at Woodbridge Public Schools is just plain rotten.
More than 1,100 people have signed a petition on change.org calling on the district to hire a new food vendor, after children said they were given green hot dogs, moldy burgers and frozen sandwiches.
Some parents who signed the petition claim that the food made their children physically ill.
Meals are served by Chartwells12K, which has food service contracts with schools across the United States. On their website, they promote “happy and healthy” serving. to help with nutritious, kid-friendly foods and innovative programs. “
The food in this school makes the roadkills appetizing, I would love to see the staff eat this shit every day and say with a straight face that it is good and that they would be okay with their own kids eating it. – Andre Nesbit / Change.org signatory of the petition
Neither the school district nor City of Woodbridge officials responded to the petition, although a petitioner said he had been contacted by the school and asked to their communicate concerns by e-mail.
A spokesperson for Chartwells12K made a statement to News 12 New Jersey, saying they were investigating the case and “recognize that there have been a few instances where we have not met the expectations of all of our students and families “.
Chartwells12K has already been targeted by disgruntled students. In Connecticut, students at a school organized a boycott claiming that the food served contained mold, human hair, dangerously undercooked meats and insects.
