Black-Owned Fintech Launches Spending Ticker and App Seal…
(MENAFN- PRLog) — During Juneteenth in the city of Tulsa, Friends of the Movement (FotM) Global partnered with the Greenwood Chamber of Commerce to unveil the first-ever Black Wall Street Spending Ticker and Seal of Approval at Tulsa, Oklahoma’s Black Wall Street neighborhood.
FotM Global is a Black-owned social Fintech company, created to empower conscious consumers to vote with their wallet to bring about rapid financial change and meaningful social impact. After the murder of George Floyd, Dr. Charles Walker, Jr. recognized how fintech could help close the wealth gap in the world. Having worked for the past thirty years to help build the infrastructure needed to create generational wealth in the black community, he noticed that the overwhelming majority of people marching during the protest were non-black. He therefore wanted to honor and celebrate their presence at the forefront of efforts to bring about social change. Friends of the Movement represents this new brand of conscious consumers whose goal is to leverage their combined annual purchasing power to support a personalized ecosystem of merchants who align with their causes and values. The black community spends $1.7 trillion, but only 3% is spent with black businesses. The dollar remains in the black community for six (6) hours but is recirculated in the Asian community for 28 days. The Black Wall Street Spending Ticker and Seal of Approval is the first-ever conscious consumer platform for the black community and allies under FotM’s Conscious Spending Index (CSI) that empowers consumers to identify, support, save, refer, track, report spending progress and reward Black and FotM merchants who support their community and values.
Imagine… Our Money United. The “Our Money United” campaign is the grassroots conscious spending campaign that includes Black Wall Street’s pledge that consumers and merchants take to spend a percentage of their earnings with Black and FotM merchants and recommend merchants and customers to join the Black Wall Street 4.0 ecosystem.
