Ukraine wants a no-fly zone

Ukrainian President Zelensky urges a no-fly zone where “Russian rockets will fall” on NATO soil.

Kyiv has confirmed that talks via videoconference will begin with Moscow.

The talks come after several failed diplomatic attempts since war broke out nearly three weeks ago.

35 people have been killed and more than 130 sent to hospital following Russian airstrikes on a large military base near the Ukrainian city of Lviv.

The attack comes a day after the Kremlin threatened to attack Western arms shipments to Ukraine.

It comes as a humanitarian crisis unfolds across Europe. Households across the UK have been offered £35 a month to open their homes to people fleeing war in Ukraine.

UK Housing Secretary Michael Gove has said tens of thousands of people could come to Britain under the scheme.

The UK Refugee Council is concerned about the level of support given to people traumatized by war.

Last call at McDonald’s

In Russia… McDonald’s employees celebrate their last day of work.

McDonald’s, which employs 62,000 people in Russia, announced the closure of all of its 850 restaurants in Russia in response to the war.
